What do you want to achieve at the COP19? Taku

In terms of COP19, I am particularly interested in what percentage the countries who are not involved in the second commettie period of Kyoto Protocol, including Japan, will set as the CO2 reduction target. Although COP19 will take place in two months, Japan is still struggling to decide the reduction target. Given the Japanese current condition that the reconstruction of the north Japan has to be prioritized, it seems difficult to keep the reduction target that Prime Minister Hatoyama suggested in 2009. It can be seen that decreasing the target value could lead to discouraging the mitigation ambition of other countries as well as the people in Japan. However, if Japan keeps the CO2 reduction target 25 % and fails to achieve, it is likely to lose the reliability of the country, and it could further discourage them. Therefore, reduction target should be reconsider and the concrete and sound steps to achieve the target should be suggested as soon as possible. This can be the best way to increase the ambition towards mitigation.
